Blimey - amazing! And no I don't have that kind of patience, sadly!
I went through my unfinished crochet projects yesterday.....I knew I had a few, but was surprised (and embarrassed) to find that there were 8 - yes, eight of them, all abandoned for one reason or another. Having a good look through them, there are 2 that I know realistically I will never finish, they'll be unravelled and the yarn used for something else (eventually!). Out of the others, one is a complicated and fiddly pattern for a blanket which is going to be a special gift for a relative - I'd still like to do it, but think I'll have to adapt it to make it easier for me, else I'll never finish it. As for the other 5, there's no excuse really, I just got fed up with them. Well, I'm going to bite the bullet and get on with them, I've already brought one downstairs to do, will try and make a start (well, re-start!) on it today.
And I have 2 bags of yarn bought from Wool Warehouse last year that I haven't even taken out of the bags yet! I'm definitely not going to buy any more yarn until most, if not all, of these UFO's have been completed.

It is Tina, isn't it - I wonder how many hours ....
Aly, a friend has photocopied a knitting pattern for me which, she said, her Mother knitted for her when she was a teenager - she will be 70 this year! She has made three of these now, very handy as nice warm over-jumpers.
It is very like the little T-tops that we knitted for charity. However, I reckon you would love it as an over-jumper for those cooler days.
With roughly 100+ stitches (for back and also for front), DK, size 9 needles the pattern says, but I've started it on size 8, as I knit tightly.
16 rows of garter stitch in one colour, repeat in second colour, and again with a third colour. Change to original colour and knit stocking stitch up to armholes. Then increase 5 stitches on each row a couple of times (I don't have the pattern with me, but I can photocopy it and send a copy to you) to create the short sleeves, and garter stitch to the shoulders. Once both back and front are made, then pick up the stitches at the end of the sleeves, and knit in garter stitches around with the co-ordinating other two colours.

My current favourite that I am busy knitting in different colours is a tunic and can be v neck or round neck. I have done two round neck and the current one is v neck. I like the sound of your pattern Val. I have found some of the older patterns good. I have a folder of them from the 80’s!

I'll send you a copy when I get home.Remind me if you don't hear from me. Seriously! The font has gone all Times New Roman!!Tunics are very handy - not just as an extra layer, but can be very good at hiding lumps and bumps!

That is what I like Val. With a light polo neck underneath they are very comfortable with jeans.

Yep, that's what they're for, Aly !! My daughter gave me one of her hand-me-downs, it is a sleeveless knitted tunic in dark green, and it's so good just keeping that extra warmth across my back - especially in this cold house!!

I made a 'pole twist' table runner yesterday (top only!) - this is the pattern I followed: vickisfabriccreations.blogspot.fr/2014/10/pole-twist-table-runner-free-tutorial.htmlUsing Vicky's instructions on assembling, it came together really well, and it was straightforward. I read her profile, and she is a retired maths teacher, and guide leader, so I think her way of explaining made it a lot easier to achieve. I'm very pleased with the end result.

I have now finally finished the baby quilt, and on the journey home yesterday, I sewed the binding on the large quilt I made for our grandson, so pleased that I achieved finishing all three projects. A fresh start for the spring! Our granddaughter would like one now... I think she would love this one - a dahlia quilt as she loves lilac and purple at the moment - not too sure if I would be able to make it though! www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/276478864600657367/

Aly, thinking about your daughter, perhaps you could start her on quilting - in my experience it is addictive... Do you have a haberdashery anywhere near you? Something simple to start with, of course, but as you and daughters sound like you all enjoy crafting, it may help her.

Eldest makes baby quilts and crochet baby blankets. Have just started her on a full size attic 24 blanket! Youngest makes clothes and crochet baby blankets too. As well as jewelry!

Aly, a friend is soon to be a grandmother for the first time, and I came across this baby hat knitting pattern that is so quick (for you, an experienced knitter), and it's useful for using up small oddments of yarn. You may already have it, but it's knitted sideways and is wonderfully stretchy to fit snugly. www.bbc.co.uk/stoke/content/articles/2006/04/18/baby_hat_feature.shtmlAs you have another grandchild imminent....
