Yum. Might be tempted to make these one day despite trying to cut down/cut out cake!

Iris, I used sultanas, and a bit more than the recipe suggested - oh they are lovely and fruity. As those I made were rather large, we are sharing each one, so not toooo heavy on calories. Sort of.

We still have a couple of portions of cheesecake left, but that can be for dessert this evening, and I fancied some cake with my afternoon cuppa. OH is out at The Gallops with the dog, so I thought I'd make a quick cake: www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/choc-cherry-muffins This, as you can see is a recipe for muffins, but I have a 6" cake tin and thought that if I halve the recipe and cook it as a small cake, it is more appropriate for us. So that's what I did and it is cooking as I type, and it looks as though it has risen well, so we'll see - the proof of the pudding is in the eating ..
Edit - just delicious, especially a slice while still very warm and a little bit of cream poured over - to cool it, of course !! (It took a little longer to cook, but that was expected considering the recipe was for muffins, but the halved recipe in a 6" cake tin is just right for the two of us.) Recommended.

I have to say that this chocolate tray bake from yesterday was just 'the best' - it was a moist and very delicious cake - I had ladies at the quilting group actually saying how good it is. The chocolate icing was very like the chocolate topping on eclairs, it didn't set, and was just very more-ish. OH loved it too. An all-round keeper. Highly recommended.
