Need some help here, lovely Peeps. I used to make these Tarts years ago, but can't remember Quantities, or even correct Ingredients, so here is what I think went into them. Shortcrust Pastry, filling, melted Butter, Egg, Sugar, and Sultanas.Thanking you in advance.

Morning Tina - I saw a recipe this week on a friend's blog for 'Butter Tarts' - she is Canadian, and apparently this is a regular make. allrecipes.com/recipe/10049/butter-tarts/Now, it does have nuts, rather than sultanas, but it may be the British version with sultanas - who knows!!! Not sure if this helps..

Thank you Val. had a look, and it is more simple than the Scottish Version, no doubt taken to Canada by Scottish Immigrants. The Recipe is for Border Tart, or Ecclefechan Tart, and originates as it's Name suggests , in the Borders. There are many Variations, including using Nuts, Cherries, mixed Fruit, or Raisins. You can also use Puff, or shortcrust Pastry, I think they are called 'Butter Tarts, as they are very rich, and sort of Fudgy. If my Friend does not come tomorrow, will have a go, with some Puff Pastry, that needs using up.

I made a date and pecan cake this afternoon, and I must have had the temperature a bit high, I think, as the pecans tasted more like roasted chestnuts!! Delicious though!

Hi Val, nice to see you here, we've missed you!
Going to make some picnic type things to freeze today, so when it's a nice day I can just take something out of the freezer in the morning for us to have with a flask of soup for lunch whilst we're out. Plan on doing chilli cheese cornbread muffins, savoury scones and bacon & Stilton little pastries (have a sheet of puff pastry which needs using up today).

Didn't have the spag bol last night as daughter and SiL got back earlier than expected and took us out for dinner. So I've used the pre-cooked meat sauce to make a lasagne for all of us tonight. I'll serve with garlic bread and salad. While the oven is on I'm going to bake a sticky toffee pud - very naughty but OH, SiL and grandson will like it! Daughter and I will probably have some fresh fruit - sticky toffee pud is too sweet for my taste.
