What, in cooking, Tina? No, but thank you - well, nothing other than Domestic Science at school. My mum didn't even teach me to cook, she preferred us to stay out of the kitchen when she was cooking anything (as do I, I obviously take after her!). For the first few years of our marriage (and when I lived alone in a bedsit before then), we were both working fulltime and mostly had ready meals, takeaways or quick pasta meals with a readymade sauce. It was only when I started working part time that I had the time - and inclination - to start cooking myself, and found that I loved it and loved to experiment.

You are much more accomplished than me, and I have worked as a Cook. But prefer plain Food, British Food, if you like, and am not very experimental. Today, is Sausage and crushed Potatoes, well, you can't mash them yet, with, Cauliflower, Peas, and Yorkshire Puddings. plenty of Onion Gravy. Dessert, Chocolate Trifle.

Thank you Tina, I just like to cook. I do look at lots of recipes but tend to adapt them to suit our tastes or what ingredients I have in.
I love crushed new potatoes, they're nice roughly crushed when boiled and then lightly fried in a small amount of half oil/half butter, with plenty of salt and pepper, so you get nice crispy edges.
Well, what I thought was possibly chicken in tomato sauce, isn't - now it's defrosted I can see and smell what it is - pulled pork in barbecue sauce. So I won't put it in a pie, we'll have it with rice, coleslaw and salad. The pastry can stay in the fridge until tomorrow...I may make an egg and bacon pie, as per Fiona's recipe.

Have changed my mind about making Fiona's egg and bacon pie.....still using bacon and eggs, but hard boiling and slicing them and adding mushrooms and grated Cheddar. Will do spicy sweet potato wedges to go with it, and salad.

That is a nice Idea I will try with the crushed new Potatoes, Sue, but am longing for a bit of Mash now. Dinner Today, Roast Chicken, with a nice helping of Marrow , my Daughter brought me, not roasting Potatoes, taking me to stand Today, so will just boil. Dessert, Fruit and Ice Cream.

Husband's doing it, which is nice. Boiled gammon, cauli & broccoli in cheese sauce, braised red cabbage and carrots/peas from our garden. Will taste even better as it's been cooked for me!

Bubble and squeak with the leftover veggies from yesterday, with the addition of a leek and couple of potatoes from the garden (we didn't have spuds yesterday). Will have it with cold gammon as there's plenty left - I'll probably freeze the rest.

Changed my mind, I won't do bubble and squeak. There's cheese sauce left over from yesterday too, so will just pour it over the veggies and reheat in the microwave.
Have used the stock from boiling the gammon to make soup for lunch, split pea and onion.

Saw this in the colour supplement over the weekend and did a variation of it. Firstly I used a rack of local lamb cutlets, non of this prissified French stuff and also rather than using a lemon and rosemary garnish at the end I used good old gravy made in the old English way, in the roasting pan. The only other change was that I wanted medium done lamb not rare so increased the cooking time. I have to say it was absolutely delicious and we will be doing it again.

Could not think what to have for Dinner, so went into my Freezer Draw, where I keep Bits that need using up, first Thing that came to Hand was a Piece of Smoked Haddock, and right next to it, two small Slices of Fruit Bread, so my Menu is, Haddock with crushed Potatoes, and Sugar Snap Peas.
