Got my new Blackcurrent Bush today, it looks lovely and healthy, and has some little Green Fruit on it. I have asked Son to get me a new big Pot, and John Innes number three, as have no more room left to plant it. Also need a couple more Bags of Compost, as now have six Bags of Potatoes, and three of them are growing so fast, they need more Compost to cover them all the Time. The Slugs have been really bad, so instead of constantly picking them off, have sent for Copper Tape, hoping this will deter them. don't really like killing them. The Forecast is for Sun tomorrow, do hope they are right.

Well, I was right about the Forecast, and we have had Sun, ever since, till now, but it is much warmer. Everything is coming on well, have got Beetroot, Onions, Lettuce, Radishes, Beans, Peas, and six Bags of Tatties. If it stays fine, am going out to hack at that awful Buttercup Weed, it is tenacious, have put Weedkiller on it, but nothing seems to work, except getting them out. It is not an easy job, hanging on to my Rollator with One Hand, and hacking with the other. Have a baby Cucumber, saw it yesterday, when I got Son to make me a String Frame for the Cues to climb up. Think the Pond may not have a Leak at all, may be the unusual amount of Sun.

Yesterday, picked Radish, Lettuce, and Spring Onion, let the Fruitful Times begin! Not been able to get outside, the Wind has been too fierce, only went down to water the Greenhouse, and give the Garden a quick water, had to, the Pots, are keeling over , with no Rain, it is not even forecast till Thursday.

This wind and rain is really a shame - we have some beautiful cottage-type roses climbing over our pergola and they are being battered, and the grass beneath is littered with their pretty petals. Also this year we have a really good show of peonies, they were my Mum's favourite flower, and with being head-heavy, they are really suffering from this constant rain and wind - strangely why does it seem this weather always seems to appear when peonies are at their best?? The garden is looking particularly verdant at the moment, so that is one good thing, I suppose.

Yes, Val, it battered my lovely Orange Poppies too, and the Peony that I inherited when I came here, about sixteen years ago, there has only ever been One, as they are not a favourite of mine, but just left it in Situ. Soon be able to have a feed of Broad Beans, think they are my favourite Veggie, not the Ones sold in the Shops with thick tough Skins, but before they get to that Stage, with a lovely creamy Parsley Sauce.

There is now not a scrap of room anywhere in the Garden, every crook and nanny are filled with one thing or another.Yesterday, transplanted Beets, never done that before, but with all this Rain, hope they take. Am eating , Lettuce, Broad Beans, Spring Onions, Radish, and Mini Munch Cucumbers, I really like these to snack on, and of course, being so small, they are the first to produce. My Tomatoes, are all very small, the most forward, are 'Minibel', but they were grown for fun, and are Outside.

Ooh, worth remembering the name, Tina, for next year. Our neighbours are looking after our tomato plants, and they have sent photos of each picking (perks of the tomato-sitting!!).

Don't think I will be able to grow Vegetables next year, as getting too bad on my Feet, but am already planning a bit I might be able to have a small Area near the back Door that I could manage, am already growing Sweet Peas, and Nasterins , sorry, can't spell it, there, and they are doing fine, so looking for semi Shade Plants, could also grow Lettuce, gets the early Morning, and late Evening Sun.

Everything is running down now, in the Garden, Flowers, are looking a bit bedraggled, and only have Spinich, and Carrots left, with some Green Tomatoes in the Greenhouse, but have given them a last watering, and zipped it up, will only go down every couple of Days, to pick any Fruit that ripen. Still not got my Spring Bulbs in, and as it has turned a bit dodgy, don't think I will get them in today.

OH has just picked a box load of Victoria plums. I decided that after washing and halving them, I am freezing them for using at a later date (if I could stop eating them, that is!). We now have the Conference pears and the Bramley apples coming on and need using, so it looks like our harvest has come into play, and a lot of fruit preparation for me in the next few days.

My Apples are late ripeners, they were tested yesterday, and not ready yet, be a couple of Weeks , so gives me a bit of a breathing Space to use some of my Raspberries in the Freezer, and Apples keep well anyway.

Well to day while out in the garden the true nature clock kicked in, what am i talking about "the Grue was in flight heading for north Africa it fly's over twice a year and the sounds of these birds as they pass overhead really must be seen and heard, But it is this time "October" that these birds are heading for a warmer climate and it is giving us gardeners the warning to get those task such as planting the bulbs,/clearing the borders of the annual plants and filling up the compost with all the removable stuff,
Ive planted a load of bulb and 6 climbing roses along the arch i made last year, the rose's had good deep hole's dug and plenty of old clay broken up pots used as drainage and a hand full of fish/bone/blood to give them a slow feed, The under ground is still warm and these rose's and bulbs should settle down by the time the cold weather arrives "But a good tip is to also cover the ground with shred bark etc , this also keeps the weeds down and the moisture in and heat "all good stuff and worth the effort"
October here can be a nice sunny days but very much cooler nights, To see the tree's changing from fully clothed to in a short time having no leaves really is a again nature's way of telling us winters just around the corner and to get ready for it "But take advantage of those wooded area's and the free leaf mold just needed to be collected and stored for spring time use,? Well tomorrow weather is to be dry and i have more border work to do (And i love it) What about you?

Going to get my Potatoes in, this Afternoon. Got another Plastic Container, from the large Mushrooms, so will get some Seeds in that, they are so useful. They just sit nicely on the Windowsills. Sent for some mixed Vegetable Tapes, they are much handier to deal with, and means not so much pinching out. I still can't get out, because of my Asthma, the Wind makes it so much worse. Grrrr, but am doing what I can indoors.
