Better late than never, I say, It has been a cold and miserable Day, here, hardly seems the same Country. Mind you, I watched 'Beechgrove Garden, and it was snowing heavily, then 'Gardeners World', where it was a lovely Spring Day. Whatever the Weather, 'Beechgrove Garden', is a far superior to Gardeners World'. More hands on, whereas Monty's Show, never seems to be much for your average Gardeners, starting out. Too late in the Season now, but with so much new Interest in Gardening, you would think someone at the Beeb, could have planned a basic Beginners Gardening. I do hope Max is ok, been a while since we heard from her. Got to think about some nutritious Meals, with loads of Veggies, just been having what was easiest, with not being so well. Sorry, to hear you are under the Weather, Iris, do hope you pick up soon. Love to all, Tina x

Good Moaning all, a brighter Day, but not that warm. Waiting for the Carer to come, then I can get showered. Have written out my Grocery List, this is awful, not knowing how much the Prices have gone up since last Week, but will scrutinize my Till Receipt when I get it, and make a Note in my Book. That is what ex Bookeepers do, they can't help it. Am feeling much better today, so must be careful not to overdo it, if it warms up, I have Celery ready to go in, maybe should keep them inside a bit longer, undecided. The Man next Door has bought a Greenhouse, he already has two Sheds, when he moved in last Year, he told me, the second Shed, was a Man Cave, but I thought you got a Man Cave, to escape 'er indoors, but what do I know! Anyway, hope Max signs in soon, miss her, love to all, Tina x

Evening all,
Our neighbours called round last week (actually just to collect their motorhome that is kept in our hangar), but I noticed that he had a graze on his head. Now I haven't ever seen him wear a hat, but today I made him a bucket hat ... I doubt if he would ever wear it, but I thought it was a bit of fun to give him ! Not having my best supply of fabric here, I used batik for the main colour, and cut up a white pillowcase for the lining. We'll see his response to it!
This evening I have cooked up a batch of beef mince, adding plenty of vegetables, so it will last a few meals, I suspect. This evening will probably be a chilli con carne. We'll see. I reckon your neighbour, Tina, is just being trendy calling his shed a 'man cave', it's probably where he keeps his lawn mower!!
It's been a beautiful day here, about 24/25 degrees.
Well, folks, have a good evening, x

Evening all. Well I did write a long post earlier but was interrupted by daughter calling in to take OH out on his mobility scooter while I took it easy at home. You've guessed - I lost it. So this will be a shortened version.
At last, after lunch, the sun pierced through all the murk, dampness and low temperatures we've had for ages. Such a shame for all the tourists visiting Cornwall. I'm still not feeling 100% so resisted the temptation to go out in the garden. After a night's rest I feel better but as the day goes on I lose all my get up and go. So annoying. Think it's some sort of virus as I've heard of others with similar symptoms. We took our ONS Covid tests earlier in the week and I was negative so that's a blessing.
Going to have daughter and SiL round for lunch tomorrow. I've taken the easy option - I popped into M&S and picked up their Easter meal deal so I'll only have to put the containers in the oven at the appropriate time and serve.
Hope your neighbour likes his hat, Val!
Rutland Water is beautiful, Chris. Our son has taken us there on a couple of occasions whilst we have been staying with him as it's not far from his home in Stilton.
It's not only that food prices are going up, Tina. I'm having trouble getting hold of skimmed milk - several local supermarkets are having supply difficulties apparently.
Well I'm going to settle down for a relaxing night. Have a Happy Easter.

Just popping in to say 'good Night', and to say what a dreadful Day weatherwise it has been, did not get out once, but decided to be cautious with the Celery, and keep it indoors a bit longer. Was going to make a Chicken Curry for Dinner, but eldest Son, brought me so many lovely 'Tit Bits', I had a sort of Scottish Tapas, a Plate with Ham, Fresh Prawns, Cheese, Spring Onions, that were actually edible, and fresh Strawberries with Meringue, and Cream. must admit the Strawberries were not up to much, but with plenty of Sugar and Cream on, I managed it! I think you might be having the Bug I had, Iris, hope you feel better soon. Love and Hugs.xxx Night night, where is Max? may be she is not well, either, or doing a Stint at the Folie Begere, as you do! Love to all. sleep tight, don't let the Bugs bite!

PS, when I am feeling a little down, I will sing a Song that always cheers me up, my Nan's Family were Londoners, and they would have the Cockney Songs banged out on an old Joanna, the Men had Pints in their Hands, and Fags hanging from their Lips. The Ladies, and I use that Term loosely, and advisedly, took their Pinnies off, and their Steel Rollers out of their Hair, but if they had a hot Date later, they would keep them in. and so we come to 'Knees up Mother Brown', a whole lot of banging going on, but as soon as that was finished, they started 'Underneath the Arches' One Man went to Mow, all the old Pub Songs. Can see my Auntie Daisy now, in my Pink Suit, she had a grown up Son, but liked to dress in anything I had, when I came up from studying at St Mary's, and she looked so pretty, with her White Hair, she was still a good looking Woman. Be on here all Night if I don't get to Bed now. Night, Night.x

Good Moaning, am beginning to feel like a Song my Father used to sing, can't remember the Title, but it went, I'm a lonely little Petunia in an Onion Patch, and all I do, is cry all Day! Not nice here but might brighten up, hope so, as think I am going stir Crazy, whatever that means! So glad to be feeling better, but must remember not to do too much. Be back later, have a lovely Day all. Tina, might make some Cross hot Buns! love to all.x

Morning all,
Tina, my Hot Cross Buns turned out well (for a change!) and this morning I need to make some bread - we have baguette portions frozen, but they're a bit difficult to toast in the toaster. This morning then, for a change, we had a hot cross bun each with marmalade. They were delicious, just right for Easter Sunday breakfast !!
Iris, so sorry to hear that you have some sort of virus - and more difficult to know how to treat this anonymous bug. Rest is always a good idea - or maybe you have been overdoing it? Good idea to make it easy on yourself, and enjoy your get-together with the family.
Today I have stripped the bed to wash, as the weather is predicted to be warm again.
Oh, forgot to say, last night, when OH went to lock up, the nightingale sitting in the trees just outside the balcony area, was singing his heart out, and there was another at the bottom of the field that seemed to be joining in on the conversation. In the very quiet of the night (about 11.30 pm) everywhere was so quiet that the birdsong was really distinct. I feel very blessed. I have sent an email to Max, hopefully when she reads it, she'll come back to us. Perhaps they're having some cheese and wine and generally enjoying themselves, being on holiday.
Chris, hope you are enjoying your breakfast in the sunshine!
Have a lovely day all, x

Good morning Ladies, I hope this finds you well. It is a glorious morning here, bright sunshine and 11 degrees with 14 degrees coming later. I have to confess I didn’t have my breakfast outside this morning for no good reason beyond I just didn’t, but I did have hot cross buns with marmalade. Tina, your song, here is a link to it on Youtube, hope you enjoy it and that it cheers you up a little. Today Crystal Palace play Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals so no points for guessing what I shall be doing this afternoon. Last night I cooked us Chicken Rag Pie as I had some filo pastry bits in the freezer that needed using up, it was very tasty and if anyone is interested I’ll post the recipe later. Tonight I am roasting a half leg of lamb so with luck tomorrow we’ll be having shepherd’s pie. Glad also like Rutland Water Iris, fancy living nearby there your son is a lucky man, if you go again and haven’t before you might enjoy the hour long cruise from Whitwell, which is also another interesting place, paired with Paris by default and a few beers in the local pub it makes an amusing read. So, with holiday makers all over the place, we’ll be staying local this weekend especially as the sun will bring even more out than usual. That’s it for now, please take care xx

Thank you Chris ! not something particularly worth recording, but interesting ?? Wanted to say, it turned out well here, not much actual Sun, but a lot of Heat beneath the Cloud, so got out at last. My Lettuce and Radish are doing well. My Daughter was able to come into the Garden, with my Grand Daughter, and they brought me a whole Range of Goodies, including two Fuchsias that I did not have. Two of my Sons went half each, on a new Mantel Clock, and it is really Great, I would think they have been searching for a while, for this Type of Clock, R being an Antique Dealer, he has such a good Eye for this sort of thing, and also he knows what I like, so pleased with it. Had my old One for years, but the Hands kept dropping, got fed up of sorting it. Hope you are feeling much better now Iris, you do do a lot for a retired Lady! You eat well at your House Chris, although I do not eat Red Meat, that is through choice, but never liked it much anyway, but what you do have sounds Delish. The wee Church down the Road, brought all of us the usual Easter Gift, either Flowers and a Card made, by the Children, or a Picnic, this Time it was Daffodils , closed up, love to watch them open a bit more each Day. I do hope Max is not ill, but if not, she will be back when she feels like it, am sure. Sometimes you just don't feel up to it. Better go and see about Dinner, love to all, Tina x

Good Morning all, a bit dull and Grey down our Way, but hoping it will perk up a bit later. Wish I could go for a wee run in the Country to see the Banks of Daffodils blowing in the Wind, so lovely this time of Year. I wandered lonely as a Cloud, wonderful Wordsworth! Think I need to get my Poetry Books out, and lose myself in the Pages for a bit. My Celery is in Situ, and standing like little Soldiers, well, they were when I last saw them, between the new Fuchsias, and Alpine Willy, who is so beautiful, and should have a nicer Name, it is covered in delicate little Flowers. I have found a Place for it, and before I start the Gardening Programme, am signing off, but will be back later. Have a lovely Day, and what was the saying, "if you can't be good be careful! Hope you are running up and down , and feeling a Million times better Iris, sending loads of Hugs to all. Tina, or as my Friend calls me, 'Looby Loo', whoever she was, some sort of Rag Doll, I think! xxx.

Morning all,
Ha, Tina - Looby Loo? she was Andy Pandy's friend... how sad that I know that !!
"Watch With Mother" was the early afternoon programmes for littlies in the early 50's: Monday - Picture Book Tuesday - Andy Pandy, and Looby Loo Wednesday - Bill & Ben the flowerpot men, with Little Weed Thursday - Rag, Tag and Bobtail Friday - The Woodentops
Ah, such simple programmes which filled our 'children's tv' watching. Then.
Not so much sunshine this morning, but it is still mild, with sunshine forecast a bit later. Last night, after chatting with the family on Zoom, and I told them about the nightingale, daughter asked me to record it. Yet again, the gorgeous little bird was out there, singing his heart out. I recorded 1.5 minutes, and it is amazing how loud, and how extensive the notes are. Amazing little bird.
While most people had a lovely Easter roast dinner yesterday, we just had a pasta dish covered in a cheesy sauce and baked. The two loaves turned out really well, and I sliced them before freezing, so we have some reserve now. I also cooked a gammon, and we are looking forward to that. I saved some of the cooked beef mince, and I shall be making some little pasties with my puff pastry today with it - again will be freezing those.
Must get on, so have a lovely day everyone, x

Hello all. Thank you for the email Val. I'm so sorry if I've caused any concern, but am very touched. What a lovely little community this is. We have no internet access at the house and the mobile signal is dire so accessing the net online is very problematic, hence the silence. We're having a busman's holiday as we have loads of work to do so not much cheese and wine consumption going on here. I'll try and pop in from time to time but don't worry if I don't - I'm having to go to a friends house to get internet access and don't want to abuse that. I'll be posting as normal from the beginning of May. In the meanwhile hope you are all well, that Val is having a fab time in the south, that Iris is occasionally stopping to smell the roses (so to speak!!), Tina is feeling a lot better, Chris is enjoying village life and you're all enjoying this fab weather. Mx

Evening all. I'm just hoping that this post will get through. Yesterday I composed a long missive and was interrupted so I lost it. Later in the day I reposted and that hasn't appeared. GRR. Suffice to say I have still not shaken off this horrible bug. Our SiL has had a very similar one but his began with a cold and tickly cough, which I haven't had. If I take life slowly, I seem to be OK up until lunchtime then my energy levels plunge. My head is much better and I don't feel as though I have motion sickness now. I'm heading in the right direction. I just want to get back to normal! Tomorrow afternoon I should be taking OH to the Carers' group but I'm in two minds about going as lots of vulnerable people attend. I'm also hoping that the installers of our sewage system will put in appearance to repair the air pump in it. I had to call them on Maundy Thursday as the alarm was sounding. As expected, I didn't expect to hear from them over the Bank Holiday weekend. I've done as I was advised (ie turned the system off) when I phoned but would like things up and running efficiently asap. Good to hear from Max. I did wonder if she has had internet problems but good to have that confirmed. Lovely Easter gifts, Tina. Your family understand you so well Glad you are enjoying your time in France, Val. Yesterday and today we've seen some sun which is an improvement on the dank, misty and generally grey, cool weather we have had for what seems like forever. I bet the tourists wish they had headed East rather than SW for Easter!
