I know it is a bit early, but it is never too early to start thinking about what you are going to grow in the coming Year. For myself, Legs willing, am growing my usual Tomatoes, Sungold, and Shirley, because they are tasty and reliable. Also Cucumber Nimrod, and a longer Boy. My Courgettes, did not do well, as we did not have the Sun, and so much Rain, they rotted. Growing everything from Seed this year, because, when I received my Plug Plants, having spent so long in the Post, nobody's fault, they were, dried out, and virtually useless. Found out that I could actually grow a Tomato Plant from a Slice of Tomato, was an Eye opener to me. Not doing that, bought all my Seeds last Summer, because everyone has gone' Grow your own' crazy. I have a very sunny Bedroom Windowsill, so will be putting my Tomato Seeds in early this Year. And my Sweet Peas, always forget to put them in early, and know where I want to put a Waterfall this year, a Sweet Pea Waterfall, that is. Still going to do a bit more drooling over my Seed Catalogue.

Excited to start with my garden, there is a fenced off veg patch I want to develop. I have several trees in the garden including a very large old oak. Beautiful. Need to get the bird feeders going. Also want a small poly tunnel. Will start planning once things have calmed down a bit following our move. Snow forecast today

Really excited for you, Aly, but why a small Polytunnel, why not aim to be self supporting for Veg, and now is the time to get Fruit Bushes in, I know you have so much else to deal with, it is all so exciting, will be interested in your every move.x That is good that you already have a Veg Patch.

Having a large oak in the garden says it is a very large garden, Aly!? Sounds like your plans are coming to fruition, too.

Sorted out my Seeds, into my new Christmas Present, Seed Box, wonder why I never thought to buy myself One before. Anyway, have loads of Flower Seeds, that I will not be using, as get a Packet every Week, on Amateur Gardener, so will list them, and if any of them would be useful to any of you, it would be no trouble to send them to you. SPANISH FLAG AMARANTHUS SWEET WILLIAM DIASCIA CATMINT ICE PLANT CORN COCKLE VERBENA BONARIENSIS MINA LOBATA HESPERIS MARIGOLD CORNFLOWER.

Greenhouse up, Tubs emptied, and re filled, all ready for whatever is going in them, and yesterday planted 'Sungold', and 'Shirley', for the Bedroom Windowsill, the sunniest Place in the House.

Have been out weeding for about 45 minutes this afternoon but had to retreat indoors as I got too cold. The only seeds I have sown are sweet peas which are coming on well. The rest of my flower seed will go in when it warms up again after this cold spell.

Nothing going outside for a good while yet, lost most of my sweet Peas, but will get mine in, have about six, so even if the next Seeds do not do much, will still have a Show, where I want them. Am in Garden Forums, and do wish I could say to new Gardeners, buy a basic Gardening Book, they are written by People who know what they are talking about, and you will know when and where to plant.

Sent for Pentland Javelin, first earlies, many to choose from, and did fancy Yukon Gold, but decided to stick with what I know, and works, a very reliable tasty Tattie. Only got to get Seeds of a long Cucumber, as bought Mini Munch, earlier, sometimes the Mini Munch is too small for a Salad.

Potatoes chitting away in a Box in the Bedroom, have sent for proper Potato Planters, should be here today, then am going to plant them up, just to get them out of the way. Nine Sungold through, and six Shirley, am wondering if I should grow One Bush Tomato, very tempted, but not got a lot of room, and Tomatoes do not do well Outside, in Scotland. Got Calendulas in and Broad Beans, I find growing Things so exciting, I lived in a Flat for many years, and dug up half the Washing Green to grow my Veg, and when I look at Pictures of the Flat now, every Surface is covered with Plants, I grew a Tree from a Pip, and ir reached the Ceiling, think you can tell, am quite addicted!

As I didn't have to cook a roast today I've spent some time outside in the sun but wrapped up against the wind. I've turned the soil over in my greenhouse, pruned the overwintered fuchsias in there and sowed some nasturtium seed and potted up a dahlia tuber. I helped OH move 2 large sacks of compost into his greenhouse and left him to distribute the contents over the beds. So good to be outside again.

Going to get my Potatoes in, this Afternoon. Got another Plastic Container, from the large Mushrooms, so will get some Seeds in that, they are so useful. They just sit nicely on the Windowsills. Sent for some mixed Vegetable Tapes, they are much handier to deal with, and means not so much pinching out. I still can't get out, because of my Asthma, the Wind makes it so much worse. Grrrr, but am doing what I can indoors.
