Getting a bit further on now, twelve new Herbs in an old Bird Ball Tub, I bring them in every Night, as they are just Babies, these empty Plastic Tubs are very useful, I use them for lots of things. Have to cover my Courgettes every Night, am Inventive, used a couple of Plastic Craft Draws for this. My Begonias took a battering from the cold Winds, and only three have survived, getting harder to get Plants now, the reputable Sellers, are 'sold out'. Beginning of June, should be safe to transfer my Herbs to their permanent Homes, have a couple of long Planters waiting for them. Still not bought a Rose to remember my dear Friend who passed earlier this Year, so am going to have a look at David Austin Roses, know it is the wrong time of Year, but Container Roses should be okay. bbl Tina x

Too hot out, but planted out my Tomatoes into their forever Places, am tempted to do the same with the Cucumbers, but think I will delay that for a bit, everything looking good, after all this lovely Sunshine, going to have a bumper Crop of Strawberries this Year, reminds me, must buy new Netting, or will not have One left, however, they are only at the Flower Stage yet, but with big Middles. All the Herbs that I planted at the top of the Ramp, when I am coming up to the House, smell lovely, especially if they have been watered. Am away back out, so much to do, but nearly finished the shady bit behind the Maple Tree, where I can sit if it gets too hot.

A neighbour just round the corner has a lovely garden, from the tantalising little glimpses you get of it from the front, I'd asked if I could come and have a look round sometime, he readily agreed and said to come yesterday, as it was his day off work. Oh, it's the most beautiful garden I've ever seen - it's a lovely very old white painted cottage surrounded on all sides by this glorious garden, on several different levels and terraces, absolutely stuffed with old fashioned cottage flowers, large shrubs and lots of trees. Seats are placed all around the garden, must be about a dozen of them!, all giving different views of parts of the garden, or the glorious field views beyond. There's a pond with 2 little waterfalls cascading down into 2 smaller ponds. A tumbledown shed covered with climbers, a new potting shed, several very old tools scattered around the garden, no longer fit for their original purpose but now repurposed as plant supports - fabulous idea. An amazing quantity and variety of aquilegias in lots of different colours, when I said how beautiful they were, he immediately dug up a clump and put it in a pot for me, and said to come up and take cuttings or collect seed of anything I liked. What a lovely man he is, we have such wonderful neighbours here. As I love aquilegias, I've put it in my front garden and can't wait for next year when it will have seeded and spread. Husband has put up an arch over our front gate for the existing clematis and honeysuckle to climb over. Oh I'm getting so much pleasure from my garden this year, I just love it.

Sounds wonderful, Sue, very envious...ours is a cottage garden, more by luck and negligence!!! At the moment, all the borders have blue about them, covered in forget-me-nots, the tulips have come and gone, now all the irises are about to burst, we have some in a pot that has three different colours, pale blue, yellow and purple. Our "Rambling Rector" clematis is about to burst into flower, small-ish white flowers but it absolutely covers the pergola. It seems that the apple trees are having a year off this year - although loads last year. The crab apple trees were full of bloom, so hopefully, we'll have those! OH said that our gooseberries are full of fruit. I think I will make some more gooseberry and elderflower jam then - delicious.

Masses of little pears on the trees, William and Conference. The black currants have buds as do the raspberries. The peas are coming into flower. All the flower seeds are up so looking forward to them. The herb pots are sprouting too. This week I will buy in some veg plug plants and get them planted out. The tomatoes in the polytunnel are beginning to flower and the chili seeds have sprouted. All good stuff.

The Gardens all sound wonderful, love 'Granny's Bonnets, the other Name for Aqualigies, spelt it wrong, sorry, my White One is just coming into Flower, it is just under, well, partly under the Maple, the darn thing is pretty, but it has grown so big it is crowding everything out, the Maple, that is, it is a Red Leafed One, and People stop to look at, and comment on it all the time, must admit, when the Sun shines through it, it is a sight to behold.

Put the last two Cucumbers in Situ, and gave my Potatoes more Compost, cos their little Green Heads are through, wondering whether to start the second Earlies. Will be able to pull Lettuce soon, already eating Radishes, and Welsh Onion, something so satisfying about eating your own Food. Going to put Garlic, and Onions in soon, maybe tomorrow, but do, as usual have People coming, perhaps if I get up earlier, can never pull myself out of Bed much before nine o'clock. Night all. x

If we lived nearer you could have some of our raspberries, Tina, we've got loads. Every year husband digs up and disposes of some, but we still get inundated with them, the runners appear everywhere.
We went to the garden centre this morning to get a few veg plants to replace ones that either haven't grown, or have been eaten by rabbits. We got an aubergine, a yellow pepper and a cucumber as replacements, also 2 yellow courgettes - I'd originally decided I didn't want any this year but changed my mind. We also got 2 things we've never tried before - a spaghetti squash and a lemon cucumber - it's a yellow lemon shaped one which isn't lemon flavoured but apparently is very crisp and juicy with a sweet flavour. I had a £2.50 voucher so the plants didn't cost too much, especially since the spaghetti squash and aubergine were reduced to half price as they were looking a bit tatty - not dying, just a bit leggy and desperate for a good water!
I've just had a look at the fruit bushes - the blackcurrants, blueberries and strawberries are all absolutely loaded with fruit...looks like it's going to be a bumper year. Will have to stock up now on jars and sugar as I think I'll be doing a lot of jamming, as well as freezing.

Thank you for the Thought, Sue, but still have loads in the Freezer from last Year, so don't think I will suffer much. lol x Went outside, despite the Haar, it is wet and clingy, horrible Stuff, and have found that I will not be getting the Poppy I thought, but a different One altogether. A couple of Years ago, my beautiful Red/Orange Poppy, was turned to mush by the incessant Rain, so last Year, bought from an expensive Place on line, a Red Poppy to replace it. This Year, put said Poppy in main Border, it has opened, and it is Peach, and quite beautiful, the Bonus is, my old Red Poppy has survived, so now have two different Flowers, to say I am pleased, is putting it mildly, but this has happened before, due to some sloppy Worker, putting the wrong Sticker on Plants, when they have fallen out. But it has worked to my advantage this Time.

Brussels, pepper, chili, little squash and leeks all in. My back is aching from planting so many little leeks! Hope they all survive. The chickens and geese were in the veg patch for a week before so hopefully all the slugs and snails have gone. All watered in and a thunderstorm is now brewing so they should get another water.

Still no Rain, been a lovely Sunny Afternoon, Morning was not so good. Got an awful lot done, planted out another Bag of Potatoes, Gave everything their weekly feed. Had help from Daughter's Partner, who was sent up to sit in my Garden, I was a bit worried, as he is getting over a Heart Attack, but he did small Jobs, like helping me net the Strawberries, and he mulched the Borders with fine Bark, he baulked at picking the Gooseberries, however, said they still looked a bit small.! I slung together a quick Meal, a Cheese Pasty and Salad. My Pond Iris, will be out tomorrow, it is so lovely, but does not last long. Think it will be another early Night.

Have little Cucumbers on my Plants, so cute, and Tomatoes, are coming on well, Picked all the Gooseberries now, that awful Gale did so much Damage, the Bush was loaded with big Ones, but what we have picked are much smaller. Beans, and Peas, are in flower, and had not my first Strawberry, cos had a couple of 'Elsanta' a Week ago, but my first 'Mara Du Bois', which is supposed to be the tastiest Strawberry out there, certainly did not disappoint.

Everything in full Bloom, but too hot at the Moment to sit and admire. Cucumbers, and Tomatoes, coming on well, my Herbs, planted at the back Door, every time the Door opens you get a lovely Smell. Gooseberries all gathered in, and frozen for Puddings, I love them, but this year, will have to forgo Jam, as that dreadful Storm took all the big Ones. Did not know what Seeds the Courgettes were, as they were left over from last year, and un named. Massive One , that looks like a Baby Marrow, coming along, am going to let it get to Marrow Size, as love Marrow, steamed, with Butter, and lots of Black Pepper.
