Morning all, bright here, but cool, so not looking to go outside today, but have my Tuesday Visitors anyway, that is unless either have any of the Bugs going about. Am intrigued Chris, what is Chicken Rag Pie? You sure do eat well, down by! Lovely to have found our Max, was getting worried, it's a strange World now. Yesterday, had a Friend here who was helping her Grand Daughter with School Work, and the Project was WW2. She had told her, she was sure I could help, and started asking me Questions, there are some Things you put away in your Mind because you don't really want to think about them, and she hit One of them on the Nail. I burst in to Tears, it just goes to show no matter how deep you bury it, the Past, is always with you! Don't knoww whether I am making Soup, I would like to, but for some reason, can't be bothered, but better get a move on anyway. Have a good Day, be back later, love to all, Tina x

Good morning Ladies, I hope this finds you well. The weather here in Ruritania is bright, sunny but slightly chilly with a slight breeze from the East and cloud expected mid-morning. Not too sure when mid-morning is exactly, for our postman it is probably that already! Yesterday we had Tai Chi in the morning which for some unaccountable reason gave my right leg the feeling it had been bashed about. It is the more delicate leg as I had one of my calf muscles and part of my shinbone removed from it a couple of years back and is the first thing to complain given almost any opportunity. So in the afternoon I played the injured card and did almost nothing except a bit of housework (not much as I have my lovely cleaner lady here this morning) and odds and sods. Chicken Rag Pie Tina. For some reason I think the idea comes from a Greek recipe to use up odd bits of filo pastry, I am not sure if in the original recipe it was a fruit pie or what but I use the idea anyway and effectively you take the odd bits of filo and screw them up so that you have the dish covered in these filo scraps. I do it as a one pot dish in a non-stick frying pan and then add the filo and put the whole thing in the oven for as long as it takes to brown it. I have uploaded a pic to show the idea. Sunday was a disappointing day for us Crystal Palace fans, but hey, it’s only a game. Today we have nothing planned and I will probably go over to the farm and do a little tidying up of Claris, a 30 year old motorhome always has something that needs doing. Iris, I hope you soon return to full health, for a really active person like you it must be extra frustrating so take care. It was good to hear from Max, with nearly half our contributors in France perhaps in due course we’ll be getting some pics. That’s it Ladies, I hope you have a good day, the clouds are assembling already here just whilst I have been doing this so take care xx

Val your earlier post about having the Moderna vaccine for your booster has just this morning become personal in that I had a text from our surgery to say book in for the next booster which I have done for Saturday and we are having the Moderna vaccine. Will be interesting to see if 'A' & I have a similar reaction to you and OH, just hoping not. I did ask if we could stick with the Pfizer jab but was told that this was what is being issued and there are probable health benefits to making a change.....hhm.....sounds good!!

Hi everyone,
Hope you will be okay, Chris and Anne, after your booster. Although at the time it seemed rotten, it did only last a day and a bit more. It is still preferable to getting the virus. Interesting to note that our reaction to it was so different, too.. Another point you made about putting up pictures - I just don't seem to be able to fathom this! My pictures are usually taken with my phone, so I don't know if that makes a difference, as I can send those on email. I am stumped though on this forum!
This morning on our way back from shopping, we saw a stork in flight - what a graceful bird. There are a few designated places where tall posts, topped with nests are placed, and we have seen pairs of storks sitting on them.
I bought a barquette of strawberries this morning - oh my they are huge, and have flavour (!). A sort of ploughman's for lunch, just plain fresh baguette with cheese and tomato just hit the spot.
Tina, thinking of your discussion re WW2 reminds me of the film with John Thaw - Goodnight Mister Tom. I could watch that again. We saw it acted out at our local Theatre, and that was very well done.
Today is a little overcast with occasional sunshine, and not as warm as the last few days.
Have a good afternoon everyone, x

Well, sorry am so late, but as nobody else has signed in today, am not doing so bad. Thanks for explaining what Chicken Rag Pie, is all about Chris, looks very inviting, as do all your Dishes. Been out in the Sun all Afternoon, had Visitors both Morning and Afternoon, came in about four o'clock, and fell asleep for four Hours, did not much more than a couple of things in the Garden, and just sat and talked. I think we are going to get a dry sunny Spell, so will be outside as much as I am able. Will say goodnight, and hope you are feeling better Iris.x Hugs, and more of them. Love Tina x

Morning all, am waiting for the Fishmonger, don't want to miss him, he moves away so quickly, he will sometimes come to the Door, but not if it is shut, as he assumes I am not well. Tis a miserable Morning here, there is a heavy Haar, and it is damp and nasty. If it rolls back, should be a nice Day, but not counting on it. Also, waiting on the Doctor, he won't always come out for Legs, but mine are very swollen. He tells me to keep my Feet up, but hard to do when you have been inside all Winter, and the Sun is shining. Got a Pot of Soup on, and will have Breaded Haddock for Dinner, so looking forward to that, like a bit of Haddock. Better go and tidy my Boudoir , bound to be bits and pieces need putting away. Hope you are on the mend Iris x, love to all, Tina x

Good day ladies I hope this finds you well. My, everything seems very quiet, usually I feel guilty for not being more productive….but not at the moment so hope you are all OK.
The weather here in Ruritania is lovely, bright and sunny but really is quite nippy thanks to that N/NE wind coming off the North Sea.
Here we are and it’s Thursday already but here in the village not much happens.
Tina thanks for the kind comment about food. It seems these days to be a regular cause for thought as to what to have. Being lazy I would probably have the same weekly timetable but head-office (‘A’) insists that we ring the changes from time to time although there are some regulars that crop up frequently like Friday fish, Monday bubble & squeak. Which incidentally we had on Monday with cold lamb (I had hopes for Shepherds Pie!!). Tuesday I made my usual offering to vegetarianism by making cauliflower-cheese but being a carnivore I added some bacon lardons…..got to have some texture, plus we had some lovely small potatoes! Last night we had salmon and pasta and tonight a chicken traybake, so there you have it and tomorrow we’ll be back to our Friday staple.
We’ll wrap up in a bit and get off out for a walk.
Val I will have a look at uploading pics from a phone, usually I transfer mine over to my computer either from my phone or camera as I want to reduce the size so they can be uploaded and I prefer to do that on computer.
OK folks I hope you are enjoying the weather, Iris I hope you are feeling better.
Take care xx

Hi everyone,
Tina, when we were at the supermarket, OH yet again wanted some fish, and we found some really thick pieces of gorgeous haddock, and it was reduced - better still ! I flour, egg and crumbed the fish, and I used Panko crumbs, making them nice'n'crispy. They were particularly delicious. With the home-made chips (of course!). I also cooked some gammon, so this evening it will be gammon, with onions, carrots and potatoes, served with pease pudding - the leftovers will be ham, egg and chips, I think.
Today, having almost finished my latest quilt for my niece, I have attached the binding, and now just have to hand-sew the binding on the reverse. This is for my niece who lives in Florida, as she will be coming back to the UK for her brother's funeral. I didn't want to have to post it to her in the US, as it is so expensive. Last year I spent £7 on her favourite chocolate bars, and posted them to her - at a cost of £24.
A couple of years ago, a tree fell from our neighbour's garden here, breaking one of our pear trees, which surprisingly has come back to life a little bit. However OH said he is going to try to cut up the fallen neighbour's tree, to get it back to our log store. A bit of a job, but worth doing I guess.
A mixed bag of weather today, started off a little bit cool, but a few moments ago I went out to the balcony (west-facing) and the sun was really warm - very nice.
I guess it is time for tea - we're still going through our Hot Cross buns that I froze, and very handy to get out just one at a time (we share one, as they are quite filling!).
Have a good afternoon/evening, x

Been out all Afternoon, as the Haar rolled over, as it sometimes does, and gave us a beautiful Day, there is a sharp Wind, but down at the bottom of the Garden, by the Shed, it is a Sun Trap, so sat and dozed, but eventually bestirred myself to do a bit of Work, oops, better put the rest in the Gardening Thread. This Morning put Veggies in Crock Pot for Soup, had to use them as Son left them in Water, yesterday, thinking he was doing me a good Turn. Decided to turn it into Chicken Stew, for Tomorrow, and have Fish today, but it smells so good, am having that for Dinner, and keeping the Fish for Tomorrow, and plus, as he had also done Tatties, and I had added some of them, there is a whole Meal, without much Effort, just a little bit of thickening. Made a couple of Apple Crumbles, as he also prepared Apples, he just can't take the Chef out of the Man, think he misses his Work a lot. He was desperate to take some of my Bananas to make a Cake, but had to point out, I had not even eaten One yet! Very worried about you Iris, can you just post a wee note telling us how you are. Love and Hugs, Tina x Better away and sort out my Dinner, that fresh Air does give you an Appetite, love to all, Tina x

Chris, I have saved my picture but it is 3.5 MB - is that too big, and if so, how do I make it smaller?

Val the pic must be less than 1mb. Suggest you reduce size to 7 x 5inches and 150dpi and save as a jpeg. If that's a problem you could email it to me and I'll reduce it and email it back to you. My email address is chris.burslem@hotmail.co.uk
Hope that helps. I will have a look at how to do everything on the smartphone and put a post up about that but don't hold your breath, it may be easy but at the moment I don't know. Cheers

Morning all, hope it is going to turn out fine, but it is a bit iffy at the Moment, and not very warm. Doctor said yesterday, I have to keep my Legs up, but don't know how am going to manage that and Garden, so will have to have a think, as you know, am not One for sitting, but just got to force myself, suppose I could take up the Doll's Set I was Knitting last Year, could write a bit, read a bit, the World's my Oyster, as they say, but really don't want it to be, still, will fish out the Dolly Set for this Afternoon, and make a start. Put more Salad Seeds in yesterday, and sent for more, Son said, hope you are growing the Lettuce I like, he only likes round Lettuce, and spotted some Lollo Rosso, well, am not keen on them myself, but it was mixed Seeds, and there are not many. Am really worried about Iris, please let us know you are getting better dear Friend. Am away to make a start, plan the Day, that is a Laugh, will be back later. Love to all, Tina x

Good morning Ladies, I offer my usual greeting.
The weather here is ‘coolish’, not cold but with this blooming N/NE wind dragging cool air off the North Sea it could be warmer. The sun is shining intermittently and it should clear later……at least according to the forecast!!
We have a little bit of shopping to do and will probably pop into Tesco in Saxmundham to do it.
We watched Mortimer & Whitehouse ‘Gone Fishing’ last night, they were at Burleigh House by Stamford, they went to buy cheese from the same shop in Stamford that we visited last week when we were up in Rutland, I was hoping they might do a bit of fishing on Rutland Water but they didn’t venture away from Burleigh for the fishing. Frankly I don’t know why I like that program, it is simply a mix of entertaining boredom but it seems to have me hooked too.
Iris I hope all is OK, I guess you have been suffering trial by holidaymaker these last few days. Nick got back from the Arctic earlier this week for a couple of weeks or so before going elsewhere and is complaining that his drive each day to & from Culdrose has got a lot slower than before he went……no doubt when the summer comes it’ll be even more so.
I’m still puzzling over how to easily load up pics to here using a phone rather than a computer, the max file size of 1mb does add a difficulty and if anyone has any ideas please speak up. My usual habit is to transfer them over from my phone or camera to the computer, reduce the size of the image down to something like 6 x 4” and 150dpi which will produce a final image well under the size limit but I do that on my computer……frustratingly long winded, more to follow.
That’s it Ladies, please take care xx

Morning folks. Sorry to have worried you, Tina but I've had a lot to deal with here. I have popped in but not posted as life is very mundane at the moment. I've been trying desperately to find a company that will come out asap to mend the pump on our sewage treatment plant. It's been turned off since Maundy Thursday as an alarm is sounding. I contacted the installers and they were useless. I am now waiting for a call from a pump company who will be able to do the job IF they can get the part. Then I've been trying to sort out telephone appointments for OH and myself with our cholesterol specialist at the hospital. Talk about one hand not knowing what the other is doing but must be patient as they are working in very difficult circumstances. At last I've spoken to a helpful lady and she's booked us in - just 2 and a half years after our last check up!! The BT kindly connected us to Digital Voice their new phone system which comes via the internet. The only problem with that was that our existing phones are not compatible . So nobody has been able to ring us if they don't have our mobile numbers. Trying to negotiate BT's website to the correct place to order new phones was a nightmare but they arrived yesterday. I now have to sit and transfer individual numbers into the new handset. Oh the joys of technology. I'm glad I don't have to have my blood pressure checked at the moment. Healthwise, I'm getting there. I'm firing on 3 cylinders currently Still have to pace myself physically because I still get tired. For example I went out shopping earlier in the week but after getting home and unpacking the car and stashing everything away I had to rest for the afternoon. I'm just about to head off to collect a new food processor and will collect fish and chips for our lunch on my way back to save me cooking. Yes, Chris, the traffic hereabouts has been quite heavy. Hope it's not too bad now. I'll post again when I can. Bye for now.
